Murphy is from Wilmington Massachusetts where she was a two-time captain and received EMGLCA 2nd-team all-star after her senior season. She is currently a sophomore at Colorado Mesa University where she has continued her lacrosse career as a starter for the program and is working towards an exercise science degree.
